FAQ
Q: Is 2/0 cable large enough for a 250 amp breaker?
A: NEC table 310-17 shows
THW rated for 265 amps for a 70C cable. The MidNite
Solar cable is rated for 105C. UL allows two wire
sizes smaller than the NEC allowance. The factory
cable inside the E-Panel falls under the UL guidelines,
but meets NEC guidelines also.
Q: Since the breakers exit the side of the E-Panel,
do you need 3 feet of clear space to the side as well
as the front?
A: NEC 110.26 (working
space width) stipulates 30 inches is required for
the total width of clearspace. The E-Panel may be
placed anywhere within that 30 inches. If the E-Panel
is pushed all the way to the edge of the 30 inches,
this will still leave an ample 20.5 inches for access.
The three (3) foot rule applies directly in front
of the E-Panel.
Q: Is the E-Panel listed for use in the US and Canada?
A: Yes. It is ETL listed
for use in both countries.
Q: I thought you were not allowed to put AC and DC
in the same box?
A: When field installing
AC and DC breakers on the same Din Rail, you should
use the supplied UL listed insulator/barrier to separate
the two circuits. All wiring insulation must also
be rated for the highest voltage in the box. No barrier
is required if different din rails are used for AC
and DC.
Q: Do I have to special order for a left hand unit
in a stacked pair?
A: No. You can move all
the parts from the right hand side to the left. You
will need to purchase a left hand door. Left hand
E-Panels can be built at no extra cost when ordered
as a “Left Hand” E-Panel. Ordering the “Left Hand”
E-Panel would save the price of the left door.
Q: Why the gray powder coat?
A: Light gray makes it
easy to see to wire the unit. Green is too dark. MidNite
Solar also makes aluminum units that are powder coated
white.
Q: (dealer) What should I do with all my warehouse
stock out back?
A: Use it up on stacked
pairs or sell it on E-Bay while you can.
